Gelila Birhane, a mother of two, recently gave birth to a baby girl at the Glenn C. Olsen Memorial Hospital in Butajira, Ethiopia. Gelila was born and raised in this town and has given birth to both of her children at this hospital. Despite the 40-minute bajaj ride she must take to get there, Gelila prefers Project Mercy’s health facilities due to its excellent healthcare system compared to other free centers in her neighborhood.

Gelila had a c-section and will remain in the hospital for 3-4 days to receive the necessary care for her and her newborn. Her mother and husband are currently staying with her while her sister looks after her 3-year-old baby.

The Glenn C. Olsen Memorial Hospital has been providing healthcare services to the people of Butajira and its surrounding areas since 2003. They offer a wide range of services, including prenatal care, emergency services, surgery, and general medical care.
